“Waiting, waiting" Augusta Davies Webster(1837 - 1894)

WAITING, waiting. 'Tis so far     To the day that is to come:  One by one the days that are     All to tell their countless sum;  Each to dawn and each to die—  What so far as by and by?

Waiting, waiting. 'Tis not ours,      This to-day that flies so fast:  Let them go, the shadowy hours,      Floating, floated, into Past.  Our day wears to-morrow's sky—  What so near as by and by?


很多人一生在等,分秒在等。因為他們永遠在看著未來。

我在餐廳門外等位,在等知客叫我的號碼,這時,一人飄至問曰:「我一人,有沒有位?」那知客寫了一號碼在紙上遞給此人:「44號,等叫號碼。」「即是要等?」「是。」「那我不等了,謝謝。」此人說罷離去。

這麼怪的人。我看看他,原來他他胸前寫著一個「等」字,上有「禁止」之符號蓋之,即是「不等」。我問:「你是……?」他說:「我是『不等俠』。」

「不等俠?」「是,不等俠。」「甚麼是『不等俠』?」他說:

「看,人人一生在等。返工等放工,放工等出糧;女人一生等白馬王子,男人一生等發達;小孩等玩具,家長等孩子長大;有iPhone6等iPhone7,有2014最新秋裝又等2015春裝;看完蝙蝠俠第四集等蝙蝠俠等五集,睇完這套電視劇大結局又等下一套;出街等巴士,約會等朋友;公司等業績,年尾等花紅;食飯要等位,有位等上菜,食完等埋單,埋單等找錢………一切都是等,永遠等待,一生等待。其實,一切不必等,所有都不用等。」

「但…不等,這怎行?可以不等嗎?」

「可以。」說完,「不等俠」就轉身飛走了。

他背後的斗篷上,我一瞥間彷彿看到寫著「當下」兩字。


很多人一生在等,分秒在等。因為他們永遠在看著未來。

有些人甚少等,甚至從來不等。

如何能做到不等?他們只活在過去,在懷緬過去或追悔過去。

又有人說,等可分為positive waiting和negative waiting。也可分為high waiting和low waiting。又可分為rational waiting和irrational waiting、rough waiting和fine waiting、left waiting和right waiting、round waiting和square waiting……

我未能不等,但我發覺到,我等的時間在減少中。
